What do Otolaryngologists Treat?

The Head and Neck

No specialist knows more about the intricate and complex anatomy of the head and neck than an otolaryngologist. Within the head and neck, run all the important nerves that allow your face to move, for you to see, to hear, and to smell. In this area, the otolaryngologist performs both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, removes tumors, and treats various other head and neck related problems.

The Nose

Taking care of the nasal sinuses, breathing problems, and cosmetic problems of the nose are one of the primary domains of the otolaryngologist.

The Throat

This area includes the tonsils, the voice box, and the upper portion of your food pipe (the pharynx and upper esophagus). Here the otolaryngologist manages problems with infection, voice, and swallowing disorders.

The Ears

Hearing loss is a widespread and common problem in the United States. Otolaryngologists diagnose and treat problems with hearing, infections of the ear, and ear-related dizziness.

Cosmetic Surgery

All otolaryngologists are trained in both cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery. Some go on to get advanced fellowship training in cosmetic surgery with particular emphasis on the procedures of the head and neck: face and neck lifting, eyelid surgery, botox and filler treatments, nose sculpting, and others. By focusing entirely on such a specialized region, otolaryngologists tend to offer the highest level of facial plastic surgery. To learn more, click on the following link... Cosmetic Surgery.
